New Year...New Shower

We started a project this week and hopefully by the time I go back to school we will have a newly tiled shower.

MIA...........blow up Santas................

I noticed there was one major thing missing from Falmouth Maine decorations. This is a lovely area of Maine, but there are no blow up figurines anywhere! No blow up Frosty, Rudolph, Santa. The best we could do was this sailboat in someone's yard.

Holly

Holly ( yes named during the Christmas season) waited patiently for her gifts to be opened for her.

Anniversery of Sorts

A year ago today Baer and I got engaged. It started off as a normal skiing day with me being annoyed that we missed the shuttle and ended with us planning our wedding at Jax's and playing Big Buck Hunter with a new piece of bling on my finger.

Merry Christmas!

Baer and I were up in Maine for Christmas. We had an excellent time. Christmas night we took a drive around and Baer let me take pictures of Christmas lights. Hope everyone had a very merry Christmas!

Thanks!

Thanks for planning such a great day Mom! Can't wait until next year. I'm still voting that the 10th one is a show in sunny Florida!

A Christmas Ghost Story for sure!

It was a little bit scary, and a little bit funny and very good!

Tradition #2

Erin, my Aunt Karen, my mom and me have been going to see Christmas shows for the past 6 years ( we think it's six). This year we saw the Christmas Carol at the Hartford Stage. It was great and only a little scary!

First Tree

There's the final product! It's the perfect size. Since Baer brought so many ornaments to the marriage ( pretty much the reason we got married) we have to pick which ones don't go on the tree. This year's rule..........no balls. Notice the lovely Christmas Tree skirt made by Erin.

Such Good Helpers

As you can see, Danny and Baer were both equally as helpful at decorating the Christmas Tree.
They got into it after a few minutes of coaxing though.

Christmas Fireworks

Boston likes to light the Christmas Tree and then light fireworks. It does make it a bit more exciting to be honest.

Friday, December 17, 2010

Tradition #1

Erin and I have been going to see the Christmas Tree lighting in Boston since we moved here. We're pretty sure that since we decided it was such an excellent event, so have 100s of other people. It is much more crowded than in years past and with the addition of a stroller and a lively toddler a bit more chaotic. Maybe next year we'll watch it from home.
Danny joined us for his first tree lighting ceremony. He also just purchased a 30 foot sailboat that he plans to live on in Boston harbor. Congratulations Dan!

Super Sweet Sixteen!

Well MTV was not there filming for their sweet sixteen series, but Carly had a lovely cake, an out of tune Happy Birthday, and Baby Grandma. Pretty sweet if you ask me.

The aftermath

Carly is watching the boys eat their 3rd plate of food. Gross. Oh.......the winner? Dan, with 7lbs gained, although there was a question of using a faulty scale.

Game Faces?

This year's Thanksgiving had a few themes. Theme 1 was that the boys decided to wear bow ties. Theme 2 was that the boys decided to have an eating contest. There were a few events involved. The weigh in, the eating, the discussion of if it was pure poundage or percentage eaten, and the weigh out.

Crafts, Pilgrim Style

It wouldn't be a true holiday without a handmade craft from Aunt Gina. Although she doesn't make one every year she always out does herself. There has been the hand sewn personalized reindeer place names, with handmade wooden stands. Then there was the delicately hand painted fall leaves with various themes. This year............pilgrim people. Baer even had an accessory.

Tons of Turkey

We were ready for tons of turkey down at my Aunt Gina's house. We had a good crowd this year, all topped off with an eating contest.

Figuring it out

I'm still figuring this blog stuff out. I am also feeling a lot of guilt for my lack of posts. Problem #1: We take a lot of pictures, but we are very slow at uploading them. Problem #2: Baer always takes the camera to work and leaves it there. He needs his own work camera I think. I finally figured out how to do my title page over and I changed the background to snow. I can't wait for snow! I know everyone complains about it, but I really do love it!

What better way to celebrate than to dance on a light up platform.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

Godparents

Baer and I got our first taste of "parenthood" when we became Kendall's godparents. It was a really great ceremony. Thanks Chuck and Alli!

I got to go first to put the oil on Kendall's forehead, once she figured out what was going on she wouldn't let Baer get his turn in.

Don't shoot me, I'm a human!

Baer and I decided to go for a hike the afternoon of the wedding. We found a really nice area, but there were a lot of signs out about wearing day glo orange because it was hunting season. For safety we were looking up if hunting was allowed on Sundays. Once we crossed the RI/Conn dam though we had to look up the next state's information. I decided we were safe to walk around the pond and I just periodically yelled out. "I'm not a deer, I'm a human" to warn hunters. It worked, we did not get shot.

Very nice affair.

The Lord Thompson Manor was amazing, they had fire pits with blankets you could sit with to keep warm, minks to wear outside if you were chilly. The food was great.

Happy Birthday Dad

Happy 60th Birthday Dad!

Carmen and Katya

We had a wedding in CT over Halloween weekend. Baer and I stayed in a very neat bed and breakfast in Putnam. It was named Whitehaven Inn if anyone is interested. Here are Carmen and Katya on one of their trips around the alter.

Missing

I know I've been missing, Baer's computer is getting fixed and it has all our recent pictures on it!

Near Disaster

There was a near disaster when they had kegs of Spaten and Dinkel Acker, but the tap was not the right one. Luckily, the correct system showed up and quite a system it was.

Baer borrowed an authentic german beanie from Dan for the night.

A German Pyramid

Looked a little too dangerous to actually get involved in.

Where in the World?

Germany? Nope New Hampshire. We went to an Oktoberfest party in Londonderry. Very authentic as you can see.

Wonderland

I'm very glad my teammates at school are so willing to support my love for Halloween.

Halloween Project Question

How many Neilan's does it take to hang up a Halloween Witch?

Seems like 4, and 1 to take pictures of it

Oh the Places She'll Go

The cake for Tif's shower was very cute! I'm sure not as cute as Taylor will be when she gets here though!

Ella!

We headed down to see Tif and Pat for their shower and my mom gave Ella this hat from the Berlin Fair. I think she liked it!

Sailing.

Danny took Baer and I out sailing one morning on the Boston Harbor. He had taken a week long class and had boat access for the month of October. Of course we wanted to take advantage of it, the one problem was, it was windy. These pictures were all before I had a bloody hand, Baer was soaking wet and I was whimpering in the middle of the boat wanting to be taken in.
It was all good though, the people next to us hit another boat so we were in good shape compared to them. My next boating experience will be in a lake on a pontoon boat.

Strummin on an Old Dirty Bucket

We didn't stay for the music portion of cider fest although the instrument selection was intriguing. Most of the other instruments were wheeled up on a broken baby carriage. Pretty creepy.

Authentic Campsite

On the property was a replica of a Maine State Forest Campsite. I guess the whole camp site is made from one tree. Peter's father loved Maine camping so much he built one of his own. Dad, I see a Burlingame campsite replica in your future.
